Writing about the role of metadata librarians

While trying to write an article about the future of libraries and the role of metadata, I discovered a really great post that Jenn Riley wrote back in 2006: On metadata "experts". It's well worth reading.

You know with blogging we're always look for the "new". But it also seems worthwhile to link to older posts that deserve to be re-read or read for the first time.

So what does a metadata librarian do?

Metadata librarian, Jin Xiu Guo, has been blogging about her day-to-day metadata work over at the Metadata Librarian Experience blog. Check it out.

Jin recently shared her experience as a metadata librarian in an interview at the Inmagic blog.

One interesting thing about being a metadata librarian: while we are all doing similar things, we approach metadata work and problems differently: different systems, tools, schemas and schema combinations, workflows, etc. There's nothing monolithic about metadata librarianship!
