Essential Reading: Metadata Resources

Yesterday I discovered Cornell University Library's Metadata Services website. It's excellent. Click on Resources and you'll discover a cornucopia of information. So, check it out. If you're just getting into metadata--wondering what it's all about--this would be a good place to start.

Ah - Christine -- you've scooped me again!! :-) I was just looking at this yesterday since we're redoing our Metadata Services Group web pages and I was going to blog about it. You have a really good knack for posting about things right before I do. I'm glad you're so on the ball though. I agree, Cornell's site is really something else and I intend to have my colleagues at work review it.

Hi Laura, Sorry about that. I've been very BTL (blogging trumps life) lately which isn't a good thing. By the way, I really enjoy your blog--especially the inner workings of CC:DA and your thoughts about RDA in general.

  • The focus of this blog is the future of cataloging and metadata in libraries. The new cataloging code, RDA: Resource Description and Access, is a significant issue. The future of the MARC 21 format will also be explored. ILS/OPAC's future will be touch on. Also, I hope to use this blog to collocate some of the important papers, articles, websites, etc. that deal with the future of cataloging and metadata.
